Cheshire Place: The Triumphant Return of Jones Warren Wilder
By Richard Simoneau

In 1882 Jones Warren Wilder purchased 7,000 acres in Rindge and began to impound water and construct an impressive estate. With the assistance of hundreds of immigrant laborers, Wilder also spent more than $800,000 constructing and operating a woodenware mill, a cider factory, a large barn and a series of tenement houses. Cheshire Place closed abruptly when Jones Wilder died of a heart attack in 1894.
